The Cowra Visitor Information Centre is an essential first stop for visitors to the Cowra region and is open 9am – 5pm / 7 days a week every day of the year (except Christmas Day).

Cowra Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre
Visit the multi-award-winning Cowra Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre. Opened in 1979, the Garden is a ‘must-see’ at any time of the year, whether you are on your first visit to Cowra or your fiftieth.
The Cowra Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre is open from 8:30am – 5:00pm, 7 Days a week.

Wyangala Dam
The village of Wyangala is an absolute adventure playground. For starters, it’s the hub of Reflections Holiday Park Wyangala Waters. There’s also a nine-hole golf course and tennis court available for visitors. After a day of fishing and water sports, you can relax with a meal and a drink at the Wyangala Country Club. Or pack a picnic and head to Dissipator Park, which is located right at the base of the dam wall. It’s a spectacular backdrop for any occasion.
POW Camp
he Cowra Prisoner of War Camp site is listed as one of the top Heritage sites in NSW. In 1944 over 1000 Japanese POW staged a mass breakout that was the biggest in British and Australian War History. 231 Japanese POW lost their lives and 4 Australians also died during the breakout.
Today a walking trail goes through the camp ruins and a scale model of the camp is on display at the Cowra Visitors Centre. Also at the Visitor Information Centre is the POW theatre which is a nine-minute presentation telling the story of the breakout from the perspective of a local resident.
